House Number Ideas

Posted by:  | Category: Home & Family

I’ve seen a big surge of creativity in house number ideas. We are seeing a lot of the same trends that we see in interior decor. This has a lot to do with the fact that people are using their porches a lot more lately it seems or at least decorating them a lot more. You can find a lot of patio blinds and bamboo shades in these spaces to create privacy. Most of the time you usually hang out more on your back porch. However, in smaller spaces or apartments you might not have an option. This is why these window treatments or hanging up a swing is going to make the space that much more functional.

One trend in house numbers is going to be portable versions although you still need to make sure that you have one affixed to your home. If you’re thinking about how to build a pergola or an enclosed patio without obstructing the view of your house number, there are some ways you can accomplish this. People are painting flowerpots to display their house numbers. They are using painted pumpkins during the holidays. This is perfect because sometimes house numbers are smaller and they’re just way too difficult to find from the street. If you have one of these versions you should go with another portable version that’s closer to your curb.

Another style of house number is going to be more of a plaque which is one of your more refined and traditional looks. This is usually going to use a handpainted version and it’s usually something that you can create yourself. However, even if you’re using your typical house numbers we are seeing chrome or stainless steel versions here. We are seeing larger display affixed to plaques. This gives you an opportunity to paint the back in more dramatic colors to get tones you wouldn’t usually find in house numbers. It also takes the basic metal elements that you find at any hardware store and adds more of a presence.

One of my favorite styles of house numbers is going to mimic a stained glass window. It’s going to use etched numbers on the window itself. This is going to be quite subtle but it also has more of a Victorian kind of feeling depending on the font that you choose to use. Just make sure that it’s still has a little bit of a pop or shadow to it so it’s easily viewable from your street. Going with creative house numbers does add in those small touches which is why it’s so important for a handcrafted feeling.
