Some Reasons Why I Think Everyone Should Go Backpacking

Posted by:  | Category: Travel

This article will tell you the reasons that everyone should get out there, travel, and experience the world and all it has to offer. So what will travelling truly offer you? What sort of experiences will it provide you? Is it something that everyone should do? Let me give you my views on the matter.

The Magic of Other Cultures

If you really want to be experienced and more worldly, then there is nothing for it except to go out there and visit new places and mingle with other cultures to your own. It’s the only way. Simply watching it on television will not do it justice. Other cultures are truly magical, people will always still be people – yet they live and think differently, and this can be a hammer blow of revelation to those who have never travelled before.

What’s Not Fun About Meeting New People?

Who doesn’t love making new friends and meeting new people? With the plethora of hostels that you will sleep your way through, there will be no shortage of new friends and contacts – and suddenly you’ll have friends based all around the world. You’ll find yourself a part of the subtle network and backpacking grapevine – enjoy the whole process, and give that email freely!

I’ve made so many great friends backpacking through Europe and Asia that I’m still in touch with, and that’s a truly wonderful thing.

Your Mind Will Open (Not Literally!)

I do talk figuratively here of course, no-one wants their mind to actually open (look out, travel insurance!). But travelling will broaden your perspectives and certainly give you a little more maturity, whether you relalize it or not. You should hopefully discover the plights of others, and really see the world outside of the box that you grew up in. That’s what travelling is all about.

You’ll Gain New Skills, You Will, You Will

Even if you think you won’t, you WILL gain some new skills along the road. Whether it’s figuring out how to get the cheapest flight or bus ticket, or how to adjust your backpack properly, or even juggling or a new card game. Then we can talk more widely too of course, such as the improvement of your organizational skills and your ability to handle delicate and stressful situations – they will come up, yet you will overcome them. And you will be better for it.
