Your Camera Does Not Matter

Posted by: admin  | Category: Photography

I was about to purchase a digital SLR camera, when I came across an interesting article on the internet. I have already spoken to a few shops in London and I have almost decided what brand I will go for. Then I found this article about how the type of camera doesn’t really matters to take a great picture. Something that I have had in back im my head (I guess a lots of British people thinks the same). Basically – buying better camera will NOT improve your photography.

That caught my eye and kept me reading the whole article. I am an amateur photographer, for whom the photography is just a hobby. I am using the 35 mm SLR camera Nikon F65 and an Olympus digital compact camera. I am quite happy with both of them, and they served me very well. I have take some nice pictures on my Madeira Holidays, and I like them a lot. As many people these days, I was thinking about upgrading my 35 mm SLR to the digital ones. I did some research on the web, and found one, that I would be happy with. And then I ended up on that site…

I would probably have digital SLR by now, if I wouldn’t read that article. There is no camera that will improve your photographic skills, because the most important component of the camera is the one few inches behind it. And that is truth. It’s a photographer’s eye, patience and skill that make the image. I knew that already, but same as some people (not only British) I thought that I really needed upgrade my tools. But I didn’t.

At the end of this article was an image gallery link. I couldn’t believe that these images were not taken by one of these professional cameras. They were actually taken by standard digital compact that you can buy for €250 in every camera shop. Similar to one I have. And that was quite a shock for me.

I’m going to hold on to my current cameras bit longer and I am going to try all the features that these cameras offer. And believe me or not, most of the standard digital cameras has a lot of features to experiment with and that will result in an improvement of your photography.
